On Friday 28th November, I’ll be at the legendary Golden Lion in Todmorden for a night dedicated to the sounds of Detroit. The party runs from 8pm to 1am. At 8:30 there will be a screening of Black to Techno — the acclaimed short film by Grammy-winning director Jenn Nkiru. After that, I’ll be on the decks all night, playing house, techno, electro, beatdown, and ghettotech straight from Detroit.
It sounds like The Golden Lion is having some struggles with noise complaints from residents. The text below is from Sean Johnston’s Insta page. I’m not on Fb but I heard that they were having problems with this. What a shot in the foot this seems by the council/powers-that-be. I can’t think of a more positive, community-minded bunch than Gig and Wacka. Hope it gets resolved presto-pronto!
