and in my humble opinion “Adore” by Prince is perhaps the greatest slow jam of all time:

One of Micks very best. Seen hard rough fellas weep at this when played live.

One of the most touching hip hop jams - you can almost see the poverty he’s describing in front of you. The “I love you mommy” line from a real G hit’s hard.

This entire album is a song cycle of heartbreak - if you’ve never heard this Sinatra album, do so now.

Bonnie Prince Billy and Cheyenne Mize covering Merle Haggard. Just perfect.

Not as slow as others, but still evocative af

Oh yes

Good god what is that ???

I’m going to re introduce this one from one from another thread on TP that was originally uploaded by our esteemed Balearic_Clapton. Another tune that I had not previously come across and another pivotal tune in my recent life. This vintage video adds to the themes of this one. I often have brushed across this video late of an evening when in the right mood.

Always loved this song, it has a gorgeous, warm, wistful feel with lyrics about longing for an escape to a different life that’s out of reach

This always gets me in the feels.

So good isn’t it. Believe it’s getting reissued by Melodies next year.

i was a big locust fan way back when. his “truth is born of arguments” is kind of a forgotten electro-goth classic. pretty much every track title off of it is fully slit-your-wrist material. here’s “i believe in a love i may never know”:

on a slightly different note - this song, with the combination of this video, gives alllll the sad vibes. erik and irene may have invented blacktronic shoegayze with this one, and the whole album goes.

This entire EP is just stunning, but on this track, the pedal steel by BJ Cole combined with the shimmering Grid production and Billie’s voice is just perfection.

Sandy Denny recorded several versions of this timeless classic - with The Strawbs, with Fairport Convention and as a solo artist. This is the version for me.

A solid sender from DB

I could have included almost any of Cleo Sol’s songs here. My love for this woman’s voice knows no bounds.
