Seriously fuck vinyl!

I’ll probably buy the Ike White, never going to see an original.

Whenever I think things are too expensive, I’m always reminded about the Keinemusik closing party at Hii in 2024.

Why anyone would want to pay €200 to listen to three blokes basicaly take the piss and play elevator music for a few hours is beyond me.

In the list of things in the world that I do not understand this is one the least perplexing, albeit totally ridiculous. But yes, I take your point :joy::joy::+1:

RSD stopped being about us when the majors got involved. The guys that run it are also mega twats who bully stores into carrying stock they wouldn’t ordinarily do so.,

Welcome to another example of the seemingly never ending series of “rich people ruining things that started off good”

This is our RSD stock from 2018, I think I may have only bought 1 record from all of the releases

I’ve seen so many stores with large amounts of RSD stock from years gone by still available. Wasn’t like that when it first got going.

There’s so much in the RSD releases I can’t even be arsed to look through the list anymore

Even if there is the odd decent record it’s all so soulless imo.

Especially when you compare it to the labels really putting time effort and genuine passion into reissues of rare and essentially unobtainable music (in many cases)- that people might actually want, Backatcha, AOTN etc

I suppose my main grievance with RSD is actually that there’s never ever anything i want. Ever.

There’s been the odd bit down the years- there was a grand wizard Theodore repress with a nice dub on it- think that’s the only RSD record I own- could never afford the og

Even when there is music that I’d love to listn to, a lot of times having a RSD release is completely daft. Case in point: Universal is planning to release vinyl records of Frank Tiberi’s bootleg tapes made in the 1960’s of live performances by John Coltrane’s classic quartet. Is the music worth listening to? Of course. Does it make sense to make vinyl pressings of a series of bootleg concerts recorded on a portable recorder with 1960’s tech? No fucking way…

a bold prediction here that Spotify’s days are numbered

mmm after reading, it was a pretty predictable viewpoint, all of the points Iovine made have been stated long ago, although people always forget spotify has no other big revenue compared to Amazon and Apple of which streaming is a non priority.

I’m surprised the majors haven’t collaborated and come up with their own streaming service to cut out Spotify.

The big 3 hold major shares already🤷🏽‍♂️

unless they are selling their user data and analytics, which i’m betting they are, probably covertly. would dovetail nicely with ek’s investments in defense tech and machine learning.

oh ofc they have different revenue. I wrote badly. What I ment was: of those 3 music providers, Spotify, Amazon and Apple, Spotify is the only one of which music streaming is the primary revenue source.
