Record Covers that are lovely (but not kitsch)

I’ve just discovered Free Jazzers TTT and fallen in love with their covers - every one is bold and expressive and joyful and also completely analogous to the free jazz inside.

Anything by Vaughan Oliver. I was a teenage 4AD obsessive in the 80s and his sleeves were a massive part of it. I liked that there often wasn’t much information on them, giving them an air of mystery in the racks.

It looks like it sounds

Something to pore over while you listen - perfect and again those covers were really evocative of the music within - especially the 4AD

i met him once, as he was involved in an exhibition in newcastle (the show was in what’s now, the boiler shop) that included shorty from studio lobster (did the southport weekend and global underground designs - amongst a lot more). top fella and a sunderland fan. i’m sure there’s a story of him sneaking something SAFC related into a sleeve design!.

Amazing, sadly passed away a few years back.

He did the sleeve for ‘Roker Rave’ :grinning:

Not sure if you can tell from the picture but the silk screen printed hearts are a different texture to the image they are printed over.
