Record Cleaners

I had an old Aussie press of talk talk eden. I thought it was rough andscratched. Turned out it was in great condition, and now sounds amazing.

Maybe worth keeping an eye on.

Yes. A lot messier than he makes it look. Would not recommend.

I’m feeling very amateur with my bottle of near mint spray

I use a degritter at work. its so good(but noisy. continuous Photocopier noisy😔). I’d still recommend cleaning the records by hand before putting them in to any machine based cleaning process - you’ll save the filters and whatever other mechanical parts on said machine.

Will give this a go thanks for the tip. Bit cheaper than some of the other solutions on here!

At my age might start using this on my face

it’s really good, but I guess the cost does add up if you’re using it on everything. I don’t buy many records and only really use it there’s something audible and annoying.

Ha same

Do anti static guns get rid of crackle and pop? Or are they a con? Clean record, played well before I put it away and it’s got a proper anti static sleeve now irritating patch of crackle at one point on every revolution

Have just picked it up and watched it suck in a piece of cat hair with the static :frowning:

I’ve got one of these, does the job of removing static.
Not all crackle and pop is caused by static though.

I’ve also got this, mainly for the retro tech novelty value but it also does the job if you can find one.

nice! I often overlap the paper onto the record by 5/10mm, but I’m sure this will still be fine once it’s fully dried (a good 24hrs) don’t try peeling before it’s fully dried as you’ll get spots where it’s still goey, then you’ll have to re-goo it and wait for that to dry before peeling both off.

but yeah, if you leave it for a proper 24hrs (maybe a bit less in this hot weather…) you’ll be good! let me know what you think when you re-listen!

Thanks, will do, have tried on two records that have pops and a skip so will let you know how I get on. I was thinking the the paper needed to go under the stuff, but I’m guessing now you can just put it on top?

yeah, I just put it on top overlapping the record and coming off the edge, (thinner uncoated paper is better – like what you’ve used) once the whole record is covered.

Found this stuff to be very good, particularly on older 60s/70s records, seems to take away most iof the surface noise, nice tip thanks!
