Porto recommendations

Im visiting Porto next weekend and wondered if anyone had any recommendations; record stores, bars with decent music, food any anything else!

Cheers!

We’re going in July so :ear:

Such a great city.

Breakfast at Epoca everyday - Especially the Turkish eggs.
Drinks at Mariage à Trois - Maria the owner is lovely with a small selection of records.
Cufra or O Afonso for a francesinha
Folias de Baco for amazing natural wine and snacks
Tia Orlanda for brilliant African food with wonderful owners
Tia Tia for wine, food and records (listening not buying)
Casa Expresso for traditional, old school charm

Pretty sure you will love it.

Just back from a week there, a bit hijacked by teenager drama; but we escaped one night for drinks at Mariage a Trois and a great meal at Folias de Baco; so thanks for the recommendations, made a really big difference to our trip

Any hotel/decent AirBnB recommends?

Stayed at an Airbnb in Marques which was a bit outside of the touristy areas, really liked it. Cheap cafes and restaurants. On the more spendy side of things dinner at Apego is amazing. Wines at a Cave Bon Vivant likewise. Stan, the owner, is a mad fella. Head out to Matosinhos for seafood lunch or dinner.

For records Muzak is good. The owner Xico is a local legend and has great taste.

This place has closed now - it was great though!

I lived in Porto for a year during '21 when it was suffering from Covid restrictions. I’ve been going back a bit this year and I’m sorry to say it is officially the new European tourist hell hole - too many in a relatively small space  Due to this though there is a raft of more cosmopolitan eateries and drinking holes springing up which is a blessing, you can’t have it all!

If you like natural wine (and the new menu looks good though I haven’t tried it), run by an old French punk lunatic, it’s a fun place - https://goo.gl/maps/hhDeesyXRCGKbnnD9
More of a straight, classy wine bar run by a Portuguese wine Don - https://goo.gl/maps/KWpyNt2h4adK5n636
Someone mentioned Epoca for breakfast/brunch/lunch which I heartily recommend as it’s a bit out of the centre and hence you don’t have to queue! https://goo.gl/maps/CYdCYdmyc5PokFJb8
Forget the Livraria Lello (Harry Potter bookshop) and go and sit on the grass landscaped roof bar opposite - https://goo.gl/maps/pJtmuWUybp3R5JYG6
Cool bar/restaurant/music venue accessed through a car park elevator - https://goo.gl/maps/QfmCFaWXH67TbbER8
Check the line up at Casa de Musica - iconic architecture & Porto’s finest music venue - https://goo.gl/maps/NwP7B43Xr3yCuWJD6
Beautiful hidden central park that is rarely busy, take a book and a sandwich - https://goo.gl/maps/rfhZMGtd8UWJZmnv5
Just up from the park I just mentioned is this whole street buzzing with bars - great evening/night hangout - https://goo.gl/maps/hAkf69xSUmeXv7vV9

Last tip - if the concentration of tourists in the small centre is too much then hire some bikes, cross THE bridge then go down to the river and follow it to where it meets the sea and then go south - there are cycle paths most of the way and the beaches are beautiful and not packed.
