the term idiotic doesn’t quite sit right with me here. a lot of these are certainly kitsch italian pop/disco records (which I love to bits) but they are very evocative of a certain time when producers were just playing around and adding an Italian twist to imported sounds. Idiotic to me implies something more ridiculous and disposable (or maybe I’m over analysing?) - either way, safe to assume they were never meant to be analysed by nerds 30/40 years later
Found this interview with Pino D’Angio from 2022 I think (who else knew that he wrote Age of Love?!)

Yeah Idiotic probably isn’t the right word for some of these. Maybe it is just fun songs that put a big smile on your face when you hear it?
It’s not meant as a diss to any of the tracks, I just wanted to try and find more songs like Magazine 60 - Don Quichotte mentioned in “The Balearic Seminar” post. I only heard that for the first time recently and absolutely love it! I knew there would be more tracks out there with a similar feeling / vibe.
