will always remember being on a dancefloor with a friend, way back when, while this song was playing. during the pre-chorus he leaned over, cupped his hand over my ear, and said somewhat quietly “this is a song about being maced”.

This was a huge tune in the early 2000’s Hed Kandi house kind of era, and now because of TikTok and all that it’s coming back. I love it, but it also blatantly plagiarizes Paul McCartney with the doo doo doo’s…

Ah that’s a great call on the Wings track. I think this type of music (90s euro pop/dance) is inherently plagiarizing on a bevy of ideas. Perhaps that’s why it’s so enchanting
