For those who’ve seen me talking about this on here over the last year or so, it’s finally happened - Pardon Me is finally open.
It’s been a ‘proper’ labour of love. A lot of planning, second guessing, late nights, money disappearing at an alarming rate, and a fair bit of obsession over getting things right.
The whole idea was always to create a bar where music genuinely matters - not just something playing in the background, but I was conscious not to call it a l_sten_ng bar as it’s within a old textile mill, so acoustics just arent going to be that level. Plus the fact that there’s a massive window that looks across the mill and the Yorkshire hills and I’m not covering that up for no one to soften the sound.
Apart from that, a huge amount of focus went into the sound. We wanted to do it properly rather than just throw speakers in a corner and hope for the best. The room is built around Danley SF1s with the rest of the system designed to make it feel warm, full and balanced without needing to be unnecessarily loud. We also got Iain Mackie in from Danley, who sets up for Scruff, Cosmo, We Out Here Festival, so it’s been done with no scrimping. There’s also a Condesa Lucia on order too, which will ramp things up too.
It’s been hard work and there’s still loads to improve, but seeing people in the room, hearing records played the way they should be, and watching the place start to find its own identity has made it worth it.
If anyone finds themselves near Farsley, West Yorkshire, LS28, come in, say hello and have a drink and enjoy the view/sounds.
