Open AI - Anyone Playing With It?

I got a kick out of this article this week: I Will Fucking Piledrive You If You Mention AI Again — Ludicity

Check this out. An entire show of AI generated tunes from Gilb’r.

Had a flick through and much of it sounds really interesting.

As Gilb’r says: the only thing AI can’t replicate is taste.

Apologies if already posted. Liking this account very much: The Visual Dome

The ‘sliders’ amuse me; giving the characters wheels is a pretty obvious workaround to the fact that none of the AI video generators are good at emulating footfall when a character is walking.

Having played extensively with Luma Dream Machine and Kling the latter is streets ahead. It does fingers and toes reasonably well too, Luma doesn’t though. Not spent much time with Runway as it only has fixed aspect ratio (no good for socials).

I’m all for AI in all facets of artistic expression. Take the Visual Dome account as an example, such level of detail and the ability to craft a visually stunning alternate reality opens up so many opportunities to people who may never otherwise have had an opportunity to express themselves artistically to such an extent.

Same with the AI music generators. I treat Suno like a sampler. It’s the muse I always wanted but could never find. Throughout my life I’ve always put equipment before records but you needed the records too to build up a decent sample library, obviously why so many successful producers are a team, the actual musician/producer and the dj who supplied the records for sampling fodder. Not any more though. Once in a while it hallucinates and that’s when the real magic happens. Separate the vocal stem and write a track around it - hours of fun doing that, fantastic learning tool, and tbh I find the confines of writing progressions dictated by a melody much easier to work with than coming up with a track starting with drums and bass etc and building on top of that foundation.

I realise my views may be the minority but I don’t live in London or Brighton or anywhere with a thriving dj/producing community with a ton of like minded musically inclined souls so Suno will do for me.

Got bored this afternoon, so gave these a go.Prompt was, Trump arrested, photographed in the style of award winning Time Magazine cover. I think that the first two have an alarming amount of merit.

Just downloaded Perplexity which is an AI search engine - haven’t tried it yet as I have no questions to ask… but when I do - I’ll let you know!

I’ve been amazed recently with the possibilities of Notebook LM - put in a really dense, technical document and it turns it into a chatty, informative and clearly explained podcast.

But it seems the truth is now dawning on the ghost in the machine…

I’ve asked GPT to refer to me as Dom and that I can call it Dave.

It totally works and makes the interaction much more like the future, now.

All hail our robot overlords!

That is properly nuts. It really does feel like we’re tipping into a new world. The new episode of the Hard Fork podcast is very good on this subject.

Thank you for mentioning Perplexity here!!

I was able to give a client a shit ton of solutions to a campaign we have been working on after trying it. It feels more intuitive than Chat GPT. It’s also how you use it - be concise and descriptive in your prompt.

For example, I entered the following for an Orthodontist who is advertising on air with the radio station I work for. As you can imagine, an expensive procedure such as invisalign or braces isn’t necessarily an easy sell:

" I have a client I need to come up with creative promotional social media posts for. The client is (name of client) in Surry Hills NSW, Australia. Please look at their services, customer reviews, pricing, customer demographics and advertising history. Based on similar businesses that aren’t always centered around impulse purchasing, come up with some lighthearted and effective ways of promoting a business such as this one."

It gave me so many solutions - was a real godsend, so thanks again for bringing it up here

Also, this is something i recently saved as a handy reminder of an effective way to use AI prompts

I then used it for a personal project I’ve been wanting to try out with the following prompt:

" I plan on creating and selling artwork for people who want to make their home environment feel stylish, calming and visually stimulating. identify for me the type of poster art that the majority of people buy to decorate their homes in 2024. what is trending? what colour palettes are popular and how much do people spend on average on a poster online to hang on their wall"

I then expanded on this and asked about themes etc - the sky is the limit once you get the hang of how to utilise these engines for info.

Wow, that’s impressive. Good tips on the prompts. But how long before the client goes straight to AI and cuts out the middle man?

And how long before both the client and the supplier are AI?
