One More Tune (end of the night)

I played this as a final track recently, worked brilliantly. The moody pads, tinge of melancholy, everybody hugging & slow dancing then staggering out into the night…

Harvey would stay with friends of mine when in Miami during his Jason Bourne years , the house was known as the Irish lads house even the taxi driver we got from the airport knew the house lol… They did the aquabooty parties during the WMC like the off sonar gigs… great times before Diddy and all the bling took over…

Last time I played out before covid hit, on last. So happy the right moment arrived to drop it as the lights went up. The perfect “you don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here” kinda thing. Worked well. I remember this single from when was a wee lad and then how it got reintroduced to the world via the end credits of Wong Kar Wai’s “Fallen Angels”, a movie I still watch once or twice a year to this day.

Looking forward to dropping this one next time I get a closing set.

We had a little house party last night, one of those perfect nights where everything drops into place
Wrapped up at about 3am with this beauty

Wasnt it the Dambusters that got Andrew Weatherall kicked off the decks at his 1st gig!

would LOVE to see this pressed onto a record. Proper chills.

Excellent DJ in my city closed his radio show with this one Monday evening, been in my head for years. (Not sure it’s the primo last tune, I think I like it even more as the end of a set where another DJ is picking up to travel further).

This is prob my fav closer closer:

Balearic Mike and Kelvin went 1 hour and 40 minutes beyond curfew at Rotation and finished on this. It was bloody perfect.

And we finished our first ONO party on Chester with this and I don’t think I’ll ever top that.

IIRC greg wilson @ fat tuesdays big chill 2007 finished with turtles ‘happy together’ which was quite an unexpected moment!

First time I heard that was Lexx playing it by the beach here in Brazil, mid set. It’s been in my rotation ever since. Top track, that.

Well now I’m jealous that sounds like a great place to listen to Lexx, classy producer.

One more choon, that’s all you need.

I thought I’d posted this here but I didn’t. Ended many a set with this beauty and once a while with some tears in my eyes. If nostalgia sounded like anything it’s this:

Also once I opened and closed a set with this (opener was the original with the naughty Yes sample, closer was this):

I’d like to do it again…

This one sprung to mind today.

In 2015 we had booked Danielle Moore (God rest her) to play at the Berkeley Suite in Glasgow at Christmas time. As expected, she was fantastic company and a joy to work with. As she was closing out the party, with 15 minutes to go she shouted me and my fellow promoters/warm up DJs over and said ‘I think that you guys should play the last few tracks’ It was such a nice gesture and really sums up what a kind soul she was. Since it was Christmas, I played this as the last track which was a really nice moment.

RIP Danielle
