Universal Works on Derby Road.
If you can get in Kushi-Ya you wont regret it amazing food and decent prices too. Bar Iberico for tapas, Taquero for Mexican tapas, neither can be booked tho just on spec. Everyday People on Byard Lane is decent noodle/SE Asian gear. South of the bridge in West Bridgford La Storia is thd best Italian food in the city, just near Trent Bridge cricket ground.
Wicked, cheers Sam!
Sheffield -
If your at University walk up to Broomhill for food & feel for student area, we ate at Nam Song which was good
Hallam more in centre so lots of good real ale pubs
Good vintage shop in centre + another on Eccleesall road
Kelham island has a lot of food places / bars
Nottingham
As @Sam_C Sam said then KushiYa - You cant book for lunch & queue starts at 1145 (at weekends) but you can try around 1330 when people leaving. & a big L’Astoria fan but they are just outside of centre
University - Lovely walk around lake & lots of new places to eat in nearby Beeston
Lots of 2nd hand / ‘vintage’ in Hockley & Bridlesmith gate
The Paul S shop is worth a look just for the space
Robs records is an experience
@howler - Are you staying in Nottingham or Sheffield?
We’re actually staying Loughborough as a base, but then dipping into Notts today and Sheff tomorrow. Think we’ll check Kushi Ya maybe Thurs (it’s bloody shut today!).
Thabks for the tips x
Sheffield! Gift shop and bespoke threads. If you see Michelle, please say hola from me.
Enjoy your trip.
Head to Haggler’s Corner in Sheffield, new record shop & wine bar Grub has opened and they’ve got a great selection, ran by a load of DJs who know whats what. There’s also a vintage clothes shop in Haggler’s Corner and you can get some decent food there too. Might want to check opening hours though as they vary.
the stairs to nowhere
Get down to Kelham Island if you get the chance. Plenty great pubs / bars eating spots and loads of student accommodation nearby
Most of the good stuff in Sheffield these days is outside the city centre, Sharrowvale Road is a traditional student area as well that’s worth a mooch.
Division street in the city Centre isn’t what it was but still has some decent vintage clothes shops cafes etc
Try Hideaway if it’s open…the foods great and the Bhaji’s are famous over Sheffield.
As above, Hagglers Corner…lads from Apricot Ballroom just opened record n wine shop…
Bare tree records on division street can have some good bits popping up and is near loads of vintage shops
Tramshed on chesterfield Road is good for a drink and food too…vegan but still nice
Thanks all gor the ace tips.
Looking forward to exploring Sheffield today.
We ended up going to the House of Coco Tang yesterdsy (which i was reminded was the former venue of The Bomb). Fantastic!
Not sure if mentioned above but Rag Parade in Sheffield looks like a great shop on Ecclesall Road. Haven’t been in Sheffield since I was there on a Uni field trip in about 94 but liked the city and locals were sound.
Yes, aiming to pop in there hopefully!
