Hello, I am looking for a non-Ikea setup for my decks and records (I probably need 8-10 cubes for my records at the moment).

I think you’ll want some plywood cabinets then. Only problem is the surface is a bit rough, so could cause extra wear on the sleeve bottom edge. The IKEA laminated surfaces are super smooth. Plywood looks great though. You could put the records in plastic sleeves but they make it more difficult to squeeze records into a tight space.
I am still sporting the Ikea shelves but have had my sights set on Vitsoe for years now. Expensive but worth saving up for. You can buy as much or as little as you like and it’s all interchangeable. Comes in black, white and silver.
This English company make some nice ones, not Ikea prices tho
Super nice. You could do something similar with String shelving -Living room - inspiration to create a flexible and modern living room - String Furniture
The Tylko stuff looks good too - https://tylko.com/
All quite pricey options though. Might cost less to get something bespoke made by a joiner.
Got a couple of the EKET units, still IKEA but a nice change from the KALLAX/EXPEDIT EKET Cabinet combination with legs, dark grey/wood, 140x35x80 cm - IKEA
This is what happens when you give a stylist free reign and they have credit at the prop house.
Thanks for all of the suggestions!
+1 for the Vitsoe, will last a lifetime, have it all over the house, great investment. Reminds me I need to tidy my ‘Office’.
Nice. It works out at roughly the same price as professional joinery but you can alter it when you want and take it with you when you move. I love the stuff.
I would avoid wide shelves without dividers. Had a unit like that and depending on which way the records were leaning it was difficult getting records in and out. Got to have cubes.
recommend these guys, good value and also take custom orders
Bought my DJ set up from here, though it seems to have gone up in price since I did about 5 years ago, made up of their cubes with a hard top for my turntables/mixer. It’s really sturdy and they are happy to do custom builds.
Good point. I didn’t realise until recently but Vitsoe supply these bookend things which solve the problem.
They come in low or tall versions.
Now obsessed with Vitsœ after reading this thread
This sloping shelf is also great for CDJ’s (not that I own any)
Really is the best, well worth saving up for. Takes a while to fit if your house like ours is all over the place, but do’able if you take your time.
I got a quote and am going to take the plunge!
You’ll never regret buying vitsoe and it doesn’t really lose its value even if you move somewhere else and don’t need it any more. Also it lasts forever and can handle a lot of LPs.
aye best shelving units we bought, great if you end up moving they can go with you.
