excellent work. normalise food partying!
Iirc, serving food was part of the licensing requirements at Full Circle back in the early 90s, but I dont think much got eaten…
Yes, I used to play a Sunday in a cafe/bar ‘The Warm As Toast’ in Cardiff late 90s (which, gloriously has it’s initials on it’s awnings) Had to charge £1 to get in so people got handed a bowl of chips, just so we could open until midnight.
It was for most clubs - Hacienda sold chips somewhere ( or there was a sign)
I think at venus it was only Ice Pops
To soak up all the booze!
Fancy a sunday boogie @kava ?
I was introduced to chilli con carne at a nightclub here in the late 80s… Never touched it since
I miss Chilli Out rooms
I remember being given ice pops in the Gay Traitor bar downstairs at The Hacienda, probably because I looked (was) young.
I don’t remember any hot food being served in there though.
Beauty And The Beat had a Loft style buffet. Not bad early on. A stomach turner later on.
The New Ardri in Manchester (Irish working man’s club during the daytime, occasional club full of spangled loons by night) served all sorts of food - there was a hatch at the back where I think you could get a lovely cup of tea and a cheese toastie, possibly even a full fry up. But the bar staff were mostly wondering why everyone only wanted water and what those weird smelling cigarettes were…
ohhhh would love to, I’ll see how work is, and if slow I’ll skive off down for a snack and a leg shake😍
you can get pot noodles and cups of tea at ormside.
