Nas has made some of my favourite records of all time, and I consider myself a fan, but his fall off has been considerable. In the last 20 years, the albums have been largely poor.
There are a few great tracks on Life is Good (2012) and Nasir (2018). The best project in the last couple of decades was probably the Damian Marley collab in 2010.
It’s really hard to find quality music on the more recent releases. The odd track is okay.
I really liked the Nas & Primo single last year, but this album is a huge disappointment. The beat on the track posted above is probably the best offering. Nas’s choice of beats has probably been his downfall. Giving Hit Boy 3 albums says it all. They’re bloody awful albums.
I should be getting excited by Nas rapping about ‘Writers’ and ‘Pause Tapes’, but they’re completely underwhelming.
