Did you get it? Very interested as well.
Not yet. It’s had a few updates apparently. There is a fully functioning demo I plan to install at the weekend
The level of hell Dante forgot to mention. Restringing a Rickenbacker 12. Took me about three hours then I broke one of the B string pairs when tuning up…![]()
Was pretty pleased with the bass side string wraps, but all the problems started on the treble side for some reason, it all went to shit…
Impressive ! Don’t give up
Things going to shit are familiar.
Total porn!
Nice! I’ve changed guitar strings before and always have the fear that one will ping off and leave me blind.
You’re only supposed to use cat gut for violins mate
These are weird, even for 12 strings, because they have that crazy headstock. For sure an unpleasant experience to have to restring them! I feel for ya
Finally sorted out the strings and tuning, although I need a new Capo - tuning is spot on when open with the Capo it’s slightly out.
Johnny Marr is a bonafide genius and I feel like I’m wearing boxing gloves even attempting to play this! Ideally need a dedicated compressor pedal but enlisted the Strymon Deco V2 on tape saturation duties, close but no cigar.
Is this small enough to Swiss transfer?
looks like it’s been taken down.

Sadly there was so much I didn’t get to DL much of it, just cherry pick what I thought I might like. Maybe others did?
i might have dl’d the whole thing, i’ll look on my machine when i get home.
I’ve just acquired a Motu 828 Mk2 audio interface and I wanted to hook it up to my laptop, a Dell latitude 7414.
I’ve spent the last 48hrs going round and round in circles trying to find a way to connect the two things.
It seems the Motu only has a Firewire out and my laptop has USB, Parallel port, Hdmi and an Expresscard slot.
I can’t find an express card to firewire anywhere online.
I might end up giving the thing to my son who has a mac air book so I think a few adapters and he might get it to connect. Looks like one of the Adapters alone is £50 so it’s not going to be cheap.
Question is, can anyone suggest a way to connect the two things or does anyone have an express card to firewire adapter they want to sell me?
Cheers
Firewire is pretty old tech. Stable when it works. I had a Focusrite Saffire interface that you had to be super careful which sequence you connected it and powered it up and eventually it not only blew the Firewire card in my Macbook Pro, it blew itself

Damn i used to have one to do exactly what you’re describing.. that was about 20 years ago !!! Fwiw it was pretty flakey.. so even if you do track one down you’ll have a challenge getting them to play nicely.. i mean tbh for not much money you can go forward in time a decade or so where things are a bit less tetchy technologically
I hadn’t realised it was quite as old and obsolete as it is when I agreed to buy it for £70. I think i’ll just have to accept it is defunkt and move on.
Yeah probably .. not worrg agonising over anyway. Would probably work best with an old Mac .. that’s what they were primarily designed for
if you can find an older mac mini they would probably play pretty nice together.
i had one of those FW 828s and eventually it gave out a death screech and then wouldn’t pass audio anymore. i sold it for parts.
We’ve got this which I bought for my son a few years back. I got it from a music maker and it was absolutely loaded with software and plugins. Strict instructions never to go online with it!![]()
Needless to say the teenage boys didn’t heed the warning and somehow it seems to be quite dead. Needs a new operating system or something ![]()
Anyway, I might take this and the interface back to the music maker and see if he can get it going.
For what Im likely to use it for I don’t really want to go down a rabbit hole either in time or money.
Yeah that should work nicely with the motu.. just reinstall os and you’re good to go.** in theory !
Reaper is cheap and does everything (although as a result has a lot of menus!)
Think Logic is still £200 which is a pretty safe bet if you can afford it. I’d get the motu working before spending any money though i suppose. I’d argue you really don’t need much more than logic “out of the box” to make decent tunes. Hooky software and “don’t update anything or connect to the internet” is a young man’s game lol
