Music Production Tips/Tricks/Bits of Kit

Anyone know if there’s a way to set a limit on the faders in Ableton when using a midi controller?
Say, to set them to not go above -2 even if the fader on the controller is at the maximum.

You probably need to mess with the controller’s software to limit the midi cc to a lower number.

Exactly this. I did this with my Faderfox UC4 in its edit function.

Logic Pro 11.2 update with new stem splitter is pretty amazing, way better than it was.
9/10 Samples.

Ooh will have to check. I’ve still got a few credits with Gaudi Studio to use up.

you can now buy David Lynch’s old CDJs, I guess he’s probably upgrading to CDJ3000 or something.

Buyer beware, he was an absolute devil for the spinbacks apparently.

Yep this is what you need to do  Should be some helpful wee videos on YT to show how.

Few interesting nuggets, not sure I could listen to the track again but still.

Anyone using the Drummer in Logic?

I saw the moon safari show here in São Laulo last Saturday and it’s really something else. Lots of pre-recorded things but still sounds like they are making it all happen up on that stage. Wonderful visuals too.

Is anyone aware of a way to impersonate the subtle timing discrepancies of the 909 within Ableton, The groove pool settings are ok, playing Notes in live has its charm as you can implement your own swing, Alan Vega mentioned he created something to have this effect within bitwig studio.

Curiosity more than necessity here.

Thanks

Ableton Live groove pool ?
Has settings to emulate all the classic swing tenplates of sp1200 / mpc and the like … should have 909

Maybe using the randomising tools, though I wouldn’t know how to do it…

If you find some drums that you like, add them into abelton, extract the groove from them and it will add them to the grove pool to use

Are you talking like the slight changes in voltage that analogue gear can sometimes have? Meaning hits can sometimes be ever so slightly different? Similar to what Roland did with their ACB technology (Analogue Circuit Behaviour)?

Or timing jitter?

Max for live tools or some form of it for that I would imagine. If it’s groove pools I highly recommend the samples from mars free groove pack. So good!
