Modded or mid-price rotary mixers

Yeh it’s not unusual to get ‘hum’ on a phonostage / phono input when you turn the volume up to the max. I’d only really be concerned if you can hear a ‘hum’ at normal listening listening levels.

Yeah, the hum is not there at a normal listening level. The lights are blinking regardless…

that sounds kind of nice, actually. wait no no no, we want our mixers to be as silent as possible.

tomi_v is right, you’ll get a little hum or noise here and there from phono pre-amps - there’s small amplifiers boosting the input signal from a turntable and very very few of them are dead silent.

if you don’t hear transient audible noises coming from the mixer as the led’s light up, than i’d agree with you that you don’t have an RF or AC problem, you have a bit of a wonky mixer. ecler might have put out a bad batch.

Have you tried plugging it from a different socket?

Especially, if you’re using a multi extension cable.

My cheap mixer does the same thing as yours in the house I’m currently in. I’m in the process of rewiring it so I know that the old wiring was very old. There’s little actual noise, but the lights on my mixer are showing that something is being picked up. Certainly nothing noticeable when using vinyl.

Yeah, it is not looking very promising. I will try it tomorrow at a friend’s place and see… Will update it here.

Yes, yes, I tried in all of the sockets of my flat, haha The one in the video is just directly from the wall socket - no multi-one.

And that is the thing, this is not a particularly cheap mixer (ca. 600E). At the same time, it is true that I do not hear anything bothering. So I am quite conflicted about whether to return it or not…

It was an obvious suggestion

Can you call Ecler for some advice?

You’ve already sent one back, so might be worth a try (that’s if they have a contact number).

Thanks anyway! I tried calling today but with no luck, will keep trying

Good luck :crossed_fingers:

I’m not too fussed with mine, but it was very cheap. Hope you get it resolved.

Long overdue update from my Ecler Warm 2 case. As expected and as @Apiento mentioned, Thomman’s customer service was very very nice. I called again both Ecler and Thomann. Ecler mentioned that there had been some complaints about this and that I should return it to them. I then agreed with Thomman that they would send me a new one only if they would test it beforehand. After a couple of weeks, I got my third Ecler Warm 2, but this one was working just fine. So as someone said, it must have been a bad batch. I am so happy that I decided to send it back the second time too! Now, I have been testing the mixer for almost a month and I am really satisfied with it. It is my first rotary mixer, so I can not compare it to other ones but the sound sounds pretty good. Especially the phono pre amp is very crisp and with no noise whatsoever. Update done! Thank you guys for the insights

Was thinking of getting one so thanks for the heads up, might wait now, mind you no stock anywhere convenient. Wonder what they are doing with the duff ones?

I’m the same. Juno had about half a dozen a few months ago which were discounted as well. They flew out and they’ve never had anymore. Seems like the german big boys have stock though and their shipping is reasonable.
I’ve got a bit fed up with my Xone23 conversion so am now looking for an alternative.

I’m seriously considering one of those. I have a trip to Europe booked in August, and I might just bring one back to Brazil with me.

Anyone here got one of these yet?? Reviews seem really positive, apparently it has same parts as much more expensive mixers. Looks like the next step up from my omintronic/sub zero rotary

My brother had some & was selling them, he raved about the sound
