Heading off to Veracruz (Gulf coast) area where music scene is very trad (from what I remember, last there 16 years ago!)
But have maybe five days at end of trip to sample something a little more cosmopolitan. Is Tulum worth considering, or over-hyped and $$$ ? What about Pacific Coast, any spots worth recommending? Looking for a vibey bar or two by coast really and a decent beach. cheers.
We stayed at https://www.suenostulum.com/ in 2014, its a really beautiful area and the beach is amazing. Lots of bars and restaurants around. Tulum as a location gets very loosely used so check the map!
I will say Tulum has had its day and is now a boring-ass “pay to play” kind of beach destination. Get ready to spend the big bucks to have any kind of decent experience there. It’s become European Rich Hippie Land, and most of the music I heard there was the most boring Burning Man ketamine psych-house hang drum drivel.
Puerto Escondido a better bet, IMO.
