Going for a few weeks in the off-season so lots will likely be closed. Nonetheless any tips, recommendations etc?
never been sadly but i’d give Philip Sherburne a shout (music journo). He’s been based there a few years now and has written about it. Sometimes does music stuff too

I did stay in Alaior in 2019 and there was a local fiesta which was amazing. Horses, grotesque models, parades, races, the lot. Also, an absolutely fantastic place for star gazing. So factor some of that in! Jealous.
Go up Monte Toro, amazing views
Friend was there a few weeks ago…loved it… flights from Dublin are ridiculously cheap in September…
good mate lives there, though haven’t visited him for some time. two historic towns at east and west points, wonderful calas (coves), not much is the way of a party scene. A few Ibiza oldtimers are heading over there including Vaughan from Rock Bar/Funky Room

I spent many family holidays out there & also my 40th…ahem (16 years ago now…damn!) & went to Cova d’en Xoroi - a club built in the cliffs looking out over the sea. Ive just checked & it seems to be still going. Not a mad a scene but a beautiful one.
Used to stay in Son Bou mostly…fantastic sandy dunes beach… in Sept they have a fiesta has mentioned above in certain villages…proper Balearic!

I went for a week in September had a lovely break. Amazing food, super chilled week. Can’t wait to go back. Wonderful island.

great island. little mass tourism, they are even trying to take floors off some of the few concrete resort hotels. two historic towns. and Vaughan from Funky Room fame has just opened a bar in Mao - Mahon.

I’m going there early October. I appreciate some places might be closed for the season but does anyone have any restaurant recommendations?

Was last there last October- swimming in the sea and eating very well. We had a car for our 4 nights - 2 in Mahon, 2 in Ciutadella and ate all over
Mahon imo is a bit lacking food wise , but the set up / cafe at the Hauser & Wirth is a beautiful spot to while away time and eat under the trees
Ciutadella has in a prime spot on its harbour Restaurant S’Aramador - brilliant seafood and cooking
Coral Menorca above Ciutadella on the coast is a nice spot for food and sunset
Elsewhere you have Chiringuito es Bruc , Santandria
La Calita is a French run place ina charming spot - great for seafood, and lamb
and Cova d’en Xoroi - the cliff/ cave bar may interest you if not for food as it’s a pretty unique place
The LOAC gallery / museum in the centre of the island in Alaior is a nice little good value diversion if you like your art
The geology is totally different on the north and south side btw - so the southcoast is where all the coves and nice beaches are, while the north is all rock, cliffs and more barren
if you want a memorable meal that justifies the price rather than the over priced lobster stews that vary enormously across the island , save your spend for the place in Ciutadella if heading there as it’s a cut above imo and in beautiful town compared to Mahon
October is a great time to visit - a lovely island

Cala Galdana beach is stunning
Area is tourist average but its a horseshoe bay with big cliffs that gets the sun until it drops ( well in July, check for now)
From memory a wall of reflected of cliffs sunshine at 7pm

I liked Es Grau when I went with the family a couple of years ago. Just a big horseshoe beach and some cafes. But - quiet, calm, the kids liked it.

Friend of mine let us stay at his, 10 minute drive outside Ciutadella. Though it was off season Ciutedella felt like the place to be. Restaurant S’Aramador in Ciutadella was great as mentioned above. Bar Imperi for breakfast, get on the tortilla. Went to Hogar del Pollo a few times and if your into Galician food I can recommend it. Very local. Hauser & Wirth is worth a go if it’s open.
