My better half and I are heading to Mauritius for 3 weeks in December; our first holiday abroad since before Covid. We’re staying in a few different places on the island and want to explore. Anyway, is there any good (proper) nightlife on the island? I’m just wondering if anyone can clue us in to any good club, bar or even restaurant recommendations, or indeed any recommendations at all. Many thanks in advance.

I know someone who’s family come from M. I’ll ask if she can give any recommendations. The one thing I do know is that they do delicious rum-based drinks that are loaded with spices and often fruit. Just typing these words is making my mouth water!

So, it turns out that my pal is from Madagascar, not Mauritius. Close, but not quite close enough!

Not much to comment on in terms of nightlife but had an amazing week kiting at Le Morne a couple of years ago.
It’s a bit of a scramble but well worth climbing to the top of Le Morne mountain and the food was amazing at Wapalapam. I still remember the mango pickle chicken wings and papaya salad which once discovered rendered all other menu options redundant
