Hey folks,
I’m going to be in MCR on Friday for a few hours around lunchtime. I’ve never spent much time there at all and I’m looking for a place for lunch. I’ve been once to Vinyl Exchange and may go back there for a few records. But if there’s somewhere else you’d recommend for records too, I’d love to know. For food, anything goes. Apart from an egg-oriented place. Which would be my idea of hell.
Piccadilly recs opposite Vinyl exchange and there’s a used shop in Afflecks Palace third floor from memory
You’ve also got King Bee in Chorlton
First three are an easy tour as all on Oldham St
There’s a nice independent cafe opposite Afflecks been there yrs…name escapes me good for hangover brunches etc
Also Eastern Bloc is just around the corner from Vinyl Exchange, in Stephenson Sq, pretty tiny though compared to its old location, there’s also Vinyl Revival nearby as well.
Loads of places to eat in the NQ tbh from cheap n cheerful to a bit more upmarket depending on what you like.
Seconded on this (and that ). If you’ve only a few hours you may as well stick around the northern quarter. About 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly station. Vinyl Resting place in Afflecks is probably the best bet for 2nd hand these days. Vinyl Exchange is ok but you’ll pay discogs prices. Piccadilly still a banker for new stuff and Eastern Bloc still get decent new dance stuff.
If you head up Oldham street the Koffee Pot does a good fry up or Bada Bing for butties. There’s also a couple of decent boozers nearby like Castle. Common is still a great spot on Edge st. Nell’s pizza and good beers.
If you’re into something a bit more fancy for food then Ancoats has a good selection, Erst and Elnecot both great. Rudys for pizza is a very solid choice and there’s a nice vibe in Cutting Square if the sun’s shining!
