Manchester Food & Drinks

Coming down for Screamadelica Friday-Mon in July. I’ve been in Manchester off and on but years apart. Was there a wee while ago for the night and went along to Freight Island. Any local tips for food and drinks that might fly under the radar for a jock on a weekend visit?

Been wanting to eat here since they were in Stockport… looks ace.

Vero Moderna on Chapel Street (AKA the new Ancoats) just over the border in Salford is a very nice Italian, The New Oxford is a great old fashioned pub nearby. The Black Friar has a country gastro pub feel, they do a good roast.

This Charming Naan at The Deaf Institute for curry (the loaded raita chips are great too).

Nam is good for Vietnamese food and has an audiophile sound system in the basement with decent DJs playing, they do some great cocktails too. Kerb is a natural wine bar just round the corner from there if that’s your thing.

Stevenson Square is a good spot for drinks, Eastern Bloc can be very lively on a weekend evening with DJs usually playing techno or house, Flok next door and Soup across the road are worth a mention too.
