London Night Czar - a poisoned chalice or a chocolate teapot?

This aged well…

Too many Dogstar memories…
Good - numerous Indulge/Soulsonic free members parties there with Stuart & Leo, warming up for Trouble on a jumping Bark Holiday Sunday, playing at the Beatsie Boys after-party, and blagging some free office space there just when we needed it.
Bad - promoting the Millennium NYE there, being threatened by the head of security having refused to buy off their in house man 10mins b4 close, losing 10yrs of flyers posters etc when their cleaner chucked our clearly marked boxes the day b4 we left said office space

Yeah, it was great fun there in that period. Happy days

Lived in Brixton 98-2000 and used to go all the time. BugBar and Mass were also frequent favourites.

Spent many evenings in Bug Bar around that time too.

The fridge was mental as well. Saw basement Jaxx do their first album launch there and also didn’t live too far from that pub they used to play in (Prince Albert maybe?) before they got really big.

Their parties were at Taco Joe’s, then The Brix Theatre Bar (which became the Bug Bar), then George IV, and lastly a few at The Junction at Loughborough Jct. although they might have changed the name for those.

They were such fun parties. I used to live up the road from the Junction and it was roadblocked for those nights. Think they had DJ Sneak there and the number of people locked out was ridiculous

That was a great venue down in the crypt. I remember a great Ashley Beedle set in there

Fond memories of the Prince on Coldharbour with the hot tub on the rooftop. Larry Heard came and Mark Seven did something too but that night really is hazy (2007?)

I was there for Sneak. Sweaty.

This one perhaps?

I honestly can’t remember who the hell was playing there most nights but the music was always pretty good. Stopped going there as regularly when Babushka opened on St Matthews Road as they played good music and had a late ish license.

I lived around West Norwood 98-01. Many a night in Brixton venues. Very, very hazy memories. Good times though.

I think most if not all of the venues I used to frequent in Brixton have long gone, but then it’s 27 years ago that I moved there which scares the shite out of me.

What was that warehouse down near Loughborough Junction? Felix Dickinson put on some awesome sweaty parties there. World Unknown too I think. I think it was originally a reggae den. Red Stripes aplenty!

Remember one on a kind of mini industrial estate. And one under railway arches.

I think it might’ve been under the arches? Corrugated roof. One in one out. Good times.

My strangest night out in Brixton was this psy thing at The Fridge. An Aussie flatmate invited me along. Relentless 150bpm? 500bpm? 1000bpm? And 2 robots on some stage getting quite amorous. I still don’t fully understand.

Tonka had a railway arch there (accessed from the Brixton side of Coldharbour La) where they stored the system, and there were a couple of parties in 89 & 90 (I believe).
In the same arches, but accessed from the oopposite side of the tracks (Belinda Rd, which runs up the side of the old Junction pub) there was an old reggae studio called Kris Kris, which we ran monthlies in for 18months in 94 & 95 (until we were raided).
The arches you are thinking of are the other side of both sets of lights accessed from Hardess St off Henrne Hill Rd. They were originally hippy artist studios - which accounts for them being called Whirled rather than World!! Whirled was first used late 90s by a party called the Laundry, and I’m pretty sure Wobble did a few there, and yes, Felix D too. We did an NYE there with Trevor Fung sometime in the 00s, and I believe its still got studios and an arty cinema sometimes in the big room upstairs.

I went to Love Muscle at the Fridge once, a bit of an eye opener
