Back in the early 2000’s, I was at a night in a small bar in Plymouth where the DJ (won’t name him, but a promoter of fine nights in the city around this time) was locked right into a superb house/disco style set. There was this nuisance right in front of the decks who kept nagging him for the names of the records he was playing (usually when he was right in the mix). After a while, the DJ cracked, and told him this particular track was by Scooter (the chart friendly hardcore techno types from this time. This got got rid of him.
Anyway, a few weeks later, this DJ is playing another night, and a, now rather irate, nuisance wants to speak to him.
“I went into HMV and bought a Scooter CD, it sounds nothing like what you played.”
“Yes, I was playing a promo only remix” came back the very quick reply.
So much to enjoy here. Particularly the ‘returned to her tipi’ line.
The overwhelming take-away (pun intended) for me was that these people deserve each other.
