This is interesting as she never billed herself with her surname as she joined the group pride which changed to Sade.
The New Osbourne later became The Thunderdome, the more street/working class alternative to The Hacienda in the late 80s, Andy & Darren from 808 State used to regularly spin there.
Sheff in the late 90s was a lot of music, design and vibes coming together.
Designer’s Republic did loads of flyers.
Digging through a box today found this, may find more…
I remember Grasscutter was a really good local DJ, did loads of nights, never met him though.
Always fancied going to NY Sushi but never managed it sadly
Used to go to Ny Sushi a bit and All points North that was on in Unit as well .
Had a lot of good nights in that club and Sheffield around that time .
Sadly never went, I think I had moved from Sheff by then but I know Chris Bibby well from Grantham
They had some great lineups over the years
There is a bit of a mkt for their flyers I think
Gotta love Designers Republic
Finally got around to taking this out the tube. Frank Broughton asked if anyone wanted one a while back and I bit… it’s big!
was a brilliant weekend though
aah yes! was there too, went to 3 in a row which all now blur into one. Cookie’s set was really good at the last one, remember losing my shit to the Herb Alpert Rise edit and Westbam old school baby
any idea what cookie’s up to nowadays? he’s always been a fave, all the way back to the early 90’s when he was in LA.
Lost touch when I left London sadly. Took himself off social media. Still in East London I think. Funnily enough Mike F. is over for a visit later this week so I’ll ask him then.
We went to festies 5 summers in a row, and would meet up locally for football, tacos, ALFOS and stuff. Good times and fond memories.
Wondering if he features in that new doc film about the early West Coast rave scene?
We went to a breakdancing thing which must have been at the same time as this as I was 10 and this aligns. Bam came on stage and I got his autograph on a Kit Kat wrapper : )
We all got showed moves and stuff by these American dudes. Was fun.
Wasnt the Shaw Theatre jam was it?
It was like a theatre is all I remember… I was only little… And we were all in like a semi circle at the start on the stage doing moves and then the Americans showed us more… I remember this kid (presume from London) coming in half way through and doing some mad stuff and then tipping his deerstalker hat and leaving… Think they had a graf workshiop and a DJing workshop same day…
Im guessing you just got dropped off as well ( not accompanied)
Mum - Can I go to this dance workshop
Yes the organiser was in a S Bronx Gang that became quite militantly Islamic & he wears something that looks like an Alsatian skin on his denim waistcoat but Ill be home for tea
Ok then
No way. You went as well!! My brother took me and my mate from over the road. My mum probably bribed him.
