Leaving London?

More double-drop than double-top

There’ll be a pint in the pump for ya

Moved down in 2000 from Manchester, now lived here longer than anywhere else. Prices could do with dropping down a bit for sure, but culturally still a great place to live. Sure it’s annoying at times but can’t help thinking all these people leaving might actually make it better. Post lockdown it’s going to be one hell of a party!

No racial connotations
But a parochial “go home locals only” vibe
And it’s not about big cars I don’t think.
It’s about tourists in general.
Emmet is Cornish for “ant”.

Apparently you can get a Golden Passport with £250k assets… anyone know more? Asking for a friend

Lived in Catford as a kid, could see the Tote board of the dog track from my bedroom window, happy days…

Ha, seems to be a big SE London massive on here…I live in Ladywell. Love it here but the usual house prices and the urge to live on the coast always on my mind.

Spent a year in Brockley. The N21 down the OKR was often lively… Loved the Montague Arms with the taxidermy, one or two decent boozers near Goldsmiths. Allez Allez did a night too for a while I think.

Ha looks great! Been some great surf in the last few days, although right now I’m limited to looking at the webcams! Hope all good with you

Left London in 2006 after a 9 year spell. 7 great years, then a year wondering why I wasn’t quite so happy before I realised I’d run out of energy to take full advantage any more of the big city delights, followed by a 9th year of solid graft to save some money for a move.

I’d fallen in love with Barcelona after a 00s Sonar visit so headed down there and realised a buzzing city of smaller more manageable size with decent weather was just the ticket and did another 9 years before the Catalan nationalism turned me off.

Hit Berlin for a bit of tit freezing and party fun but then when Brexit hit I realised I needed to get “stuck” somewhere in Iberia, with its decent climate and laid back charms, and hit Lisbon. I didn’t fall for Lisbon quite so much but did a couple of years with no complaints and now I’m checking out Porto. TBC…

Felt a bit weird venturing out I have to say, quite a few tourists which was a bit disconcerting but all good!

Never… there are far too many Tories beyond the walls.

Girls bullying is what I worry most about having two girls ourselves… :rage:

Ah jeez man I’m real sorry to hear that, we did the same in 2016. Have definitely seen all those things you mention, but managed to get lucky in Bude, although the lack of culture and diversity is definitely something that becomes very apparent very quickly. Which part of Cornwall did you move to? If we had any relevant link ups I’d love to help if poss. Done a few nights and looking at doing some more in the future on a Plastic People for the heads vibe if you were in the area.

Sorry to butt in. I’m down in Exeter. What nights are you doing?

We’re just on Bodmin Moor, we are pretty settled into it now, we were thinking of Portugal or Spain but the old B word has put paid to that idea, so a PP night would be ace, I used to have studio the other end of Curtain Road be like going home!

Nothing to write home about really, there’s been some good moments doing some local stuff here in Bude (5am pub back room lock ins etc), but am hoping to do a small and simple night when things open up a bit here again. Always keen to meet people doing stuff and travel with a couple of mates to good music if you’ve got stuff on? Seems to be a bit of a drought even before the pandemic tbh. Wouldn’t mind checking out some free parties if they weren’t tek/gabber!
