Are there really no new releases at all this week.? anyone know what’s going on with their site?
I ordered something a couple of days ago and it’s still in processing which is very unusual for them. Probably due to the holiday season.
They replied… system failure since Sunday so unable to process orders or show any new releases
Ah good to know. Waiting on my copy of Call A Wave.
Can kinda understand - there was a lot of shit on there ![]()
And you will know better than me, but isn’t Bandcamp better for the artist / label?
The only thing I don’t like about Bandcamp is when buying multiple items you get notifications for each separate item
Yeah the first thing I thought when I saw this is: Bandcamp killed it
Still though, Juno tended to be my second choice when I couldn’t find something on Bandcamp.
There was a lot of shit but that’s true of all the digital platforms as there is little to no quality control.
Digital DJs have been able to use Apple Music in Serato , Rekordbox etc since last March.
This changes the market considerably - a further move toward renting> owning
It’s a bigger issue than Bandcamp being preferred/ better
that’s a real shame. I enjoyed going through people’s charts.
So they’ve been wiped out by streaming. That’s awful.
Well it was pretty awful they often undercut Bandcamp on price for the same tracks/albums.
So to optimise return some artists never put their music on JDL, limiting their potential audience to well meaning souls wanting to properly support artists .
I’m guilty of sometimes finding great music on Bandcamp then saving a few quid buying on JDL.
It’s a big tech consolidation shitshow that justifies my still buying vinyl , despite the insane cost inflation.
That and having had decks for 35 years
With streaming, how do people deal with connectivity issues? And what bitrates are being claimed?
(I couldn’t imagine doing live radio or a gig somewhere without having the file on my local drive. There are already enough tech issues that can trip you up without adding potential connectivity problems into the whole exercise. Maybe it would be fun enough at home, with nothing at stake)
Don’t know mate as I am vinyl only.
Couple of mates who digital mix only do so at home, uploading mixes and doing lives mixes on mixcloud .
You have to bear in mind most people who DJ do not DJ out of home
