Last clip and one of the very best…
Venue owner and festival promoter, Vince Power.
His taking of a stake in the ownership and running of Glastonbury Festival in the early 2000’s undoubtedly led it to being a more secure, better organised and well run festival, and also probably started it on the process to being the more sanitised and commercial event it is today ( not the same as it was, but on balance a good thing in my opinion).
A local hero from here in Waterford RIP Vince
Karl Wallinger, just 66yrs old. Really talented musician.
Karl was amazing and under appreciated to an extent. World Party wrote so many fantastic songs - here’s one of them
Ah that’s sad. I really liked that Way Down Now record.
We just got the latest Noble Rot and there is a tribute to Russell Norman. Didn’t realise he’d passed. I cook from his Polpo book all the time, it’s brilliant and is as beautiful an object as it is useful.
Here’s a lovely video of him preparing a risotto - I usually hate cooking videos but this is wonderful in its subject & brevity.
A very sad and sudden loss in the culinary / hospitality world. Polpa is a wonderful book too. He was just about to open a new London venture aswell. Used to go to polpa in Brighton a lot.
Do you mean Brutto? Was open for a while before he died, went a few times, he was always so lovely. Got the cookbook for Christmas, some great recipes and stories. RIP.
Not sure think he had a new one in the pipeline when reading about his passing.
Ohh didn’t know, remember him from Joe Allen years ago. Just read he hung himself, not sure if that is true as it was on Wikipedia, poor bloke, bloody tragic for his friends and family.
RIP Steve Harley
Mate of mine heard (and shared) this undiscovered gem on a Worldwide FM Crazy P show a years back.
This is quite a nice Russell Norman piece from esquire magazine
Anyone know how to access it without Apple news?
you’ll need to create a Readly account if you don’t already have one, it’s usefull for jumping over such walls though…
Vince’s funeral is here tomorrow, his body is reposing today in the funeral home near our local pub, a few characters around to say the least…
