It was impossible for a while to find Quem é Quem on vinyl, but luckily people here in Brazil worked out the unpleasantness and re-issued it. If only they could do the same to A Bad Donato (actually I think Mr. Bongo might have done so). He was one of my favorites, maybe my favorite brazilian musician of all. Very unique, but also very understated. He lived to be 88 and was playing up until the very end. Left us a lot of great music.
RIP

This album too, is lesser known, but fantastic:
I work with a lot of Brasilians and they’re almost all metal heads disappointingly.
Honestly? Just be glad they don’t like Brazilian country music…
my wife was a nanny to two beautiful girls about 15 years ago. their mothers were a couple of older, fairly conservative lesbians in a long relationship, very east-coast and country club.
apparently one of the moms was thrilled to see tony bennett in the stands of the US open while watching it on TV, and excitedly pointed it out to her 3yo.
the next day the 3yo relayed the news to my wife: “you would not BELIEVE who was on TV! it was… TONY. BENNETT”.
now, whenever we mention tony bennett, we have to say it like a overly thrilled 3yo would. everyone loved him!
His colleagues saying they loved him live on air got me going a bit…
Cyberpunk was a crucial read growing up.
The 56 club . RIP Sinéad
So sad. What a voice.
Very sad. Saw her at the Albert Hall November 1990 and even up in the gods it was a very powerful performance
David Holmes was just on the 9 o clock news here in Ireland saying when the time is right he might release the tracks he recently finished with Sinead…
There was a lovely post on his Insta about meeting her and working together
