Very sad news. Rifyx and Lague Moin are absolute favourites.

I totally love this record… DJ Milo posted it once saying he had fond memories of playing it in Yellow in Japan which I can only imagine would have been totally amazing.

After you guys posted that Ruf Dug Guadeloupe mix a few years back I went on a tear and bought their back catalogue - some great music. Love this more downtempo one with the synth & piano work - terrific groove:

Charlie Watts jazz head drummer from the Stones has passed. Always dressed to the nines. Seemed the most sensible one out of the lot of them. Bless.

the only one of them that i thought was consistently cool.

and in an era when more and more drummers were trying to do more, he knew that it was cooler to do less.

RIP Charlie.

Always loved this, from Aussie 60 minutes I believe:

60 Minutes: “Charlie Watts, what’s he like?”

Watts: “I’ve got no idea. Miserable most of the time. Sittin’ in the back, moaning about things.”

60 Minutes: “He’s very talented though.”

Watts: “Not really.”

60 Minutes: “He was just lucky, was he?”

Watts: “Very lucky.”

A real class act. And who’d have thought he’d be the first?

Charlie was a monster drummer. I don’t think most people realize the subtleties he put in his playing. Huge influence on me, I even have the same set of Gretsch drums. Very sad.

Love the Stones, they always make me smile. Charlie is such a vital part of them, cool as, understated and a great drummer.

I remember watching the Arena documentary marking 25 years of the band - when asked about the milestone and life with the band he commented something along the lines of 20 years of hanging around!

Thoughts with his family, friends and of course bandmates.
