Hauls Found Today

Thanks. I’m going to do eBay.

There was a house clearance bloke selling a huge collection today at the car boot I went to. Whoever owned it obviously loved their records because most are very well played but not trashed. I bought 20, the best of which are below. The first pre-Kraftwerk album which is a really rare one - tatty sleeve but vinyl surprisingly clean and sounds great. £1.50 each!

I think it’s time to revoke on your earlier grumblings further up the post on scarce pickings this year?

Playing the Tone Float from Discogs now, a true Holy Grail find, can you afford to keep it?

You’re right, no more grumbling! Not sure about keeping it yet but probably will. I shouldn’t but …

£13 total shelled out on below. FOSL or the Grid on Darshan remix duties. Some strange synth pop and modern classical, a panties down sleeve Magic Mandrake (flip for double action), bargain Mtume and Miami Vice vibes at the end of list. I like all of these.

Double Action is a killer! I used to have a 7” and a 12”. Never heard of the Sylvian record, just listened to it and like the Grid mix.

You want to grumble, come live in Australia - we simply do NOT have anywhere you can nab bargains on even half decent records let alone some of the gold I see posted here from car boots and charity shops.

I saw you found the Love On The Left Bank book as well - coveted early Vali Myers pics. On my wants list!

Yep, can attest to digging through a lot of perry fucking como in Brunswick, Melbourne in the 90s. I do think we underestimate the quality and demand of what we have in our backyard and it’s value to others. There’s loads of great oz new wave and post punk to be found that is underrated and has a market in Europe, bizarrely. I remember picking up an early rare ACDC pressing which I snapped up for a few quid and sold on to buy records I actually wanted!

I do love a saucy cover.

Left Bank is a reissue unfortunately

I can attest that there is still a load of Perry fucking Como everywhere in Melbourne.

I can also attest to the AC/DC anecdote. I got given a box of old 45’s, mostly shite.

One was their first single, before Bon Scott was even in the band. It was warped to fuck, but still managed to sell it ten years ago for $500 AUD.

A small haul but a good one. Been after this on 12" for a while now.

£1 at a charity shop and it’s in excellent nick! It was hiding in a rack of the usual easy listening and classical albums.
