Groovy Rollers (or something)

Looking for similar tunes to Fools Gold by The Stone Roses. Tracks that have that really groovy but driving vibe. Steady, groovy, builders or something. Like a little bit floaty. I don’t know how to describe it haha

It’s a tricky brief, because it’s kind of unique, floaty feel but heavy JB beats. All this stuff cherry picked from various styles and eras. Also one mans floatey is anothers full on etc. I always thought the prototype for this kind of thing was stuff like this, but way before.

Reni apparently ripped off/was inspired by Cymande for the beat, don’t know if you know their stuff.
That was/is the great thing about the Stone Roses for me, their best stuff was kinda weightless & graceful whereas most of the Britpop/Baggy stuff that followed them was lumpen & obvious imo.

Me too, wasn’t it big Harvey tune? Or did I pissmemberit?

This version of the Peter Tosh classic. Certainly driving, rolling etc.

It was on Whatever We Want and I think had Thomas Bullock involved so yes very Harvey/Map of Africa.

Baldelli Cosmic classic as well

How about this. Always reminds me of a fusion of Primal Scream in their prime (so basically Weatherall) with a dash of the Stones.
