Greatest Finds

It’s an astonishing record.

Got 2 copies of this for 50p each.

If anyone wants one let me know…

Such a tune. Was it the 7” or the eighties kick flip 12” mix?

Found this for 20p in a shop in bristol and sold it for £250, apparently it was the limited 7” for their cassette only debut album which they only did 50 copies of - I had never heard of them but they are known as the New Order of Chile

Obviously then spaffed the whole lot on a copy of this:

I was obviously pretty made up at the time but given the Pictures record has now been reissued and La Ley is still unobtanium maybe I did the wrong thing? ::existentialselfdoubt::

I hadn’t actually heard it before - i knew the Lowrell original - but lovers covers can be a bit hit and miss really. Couldn’t believe how good it was when i got it home and played it.

oh shit i think i would’ve died on the spot if i’d found that!

gotta say i do prefer this one though, way cheaper but so good… kinda sounds like Freeez but without the Arthur Baker production:

Was the 12. Have been back to the same Oxfam a few times since but haven’t ever found anything else in there.

Michael Garrick LP is :fire:

Someone needs to reissue that one badly!

Did you keep it ?

No idea at all where it came from but it was certainly a bootsale find. It’s also extremely worn so might not be worth much now. It’s just a special bit of vinyl isn’t it?

Yes, it had been on my wants list for years and years so to actually find one for buttons was mind blowing. Would love a copy of Black Marigolds by him too but to strike Garrick gold twice is asking too much of the digging Gods!

Once went to a boot where my friend had a stall

On way in noticed the Girls Guide stall had a box of records with loads of Wendy / Walter Carlos - At time he knew a lot more about than me & was it into so I minded his stall whilst he hoovered it all up. Basically a full collection in mint condition for 50p each which he haggled down

:astonished:

Did you realise at the time or just think worth buying?

didn’t realise it was quite so rare, but i flipped it over and saw the name delia derbyshire on the back so i was never going to put it back. it’s basically a sales demo for the EMS Synthi, really interesting but overall not something i’d play very often
