Great music to put on at home over the festive season that aren’t necessarily Xmas songs. Gavin Bryar’s - Jesus Blood is a favourite round ours at this time of year.
Wow. That’s one to lift the mood of the party
Anything penguin cafe related seems to be fun for all the family.
Exactly! Something atmospheric that kind of works in the background. I’m sure there’s loads of traditional songs from other cultures that have been given reinterpretations like “Cutting branches” that’d do nicely
Not technically an Xmas song (as it was apparently a subtle dig at Margaret thatcher) but was released November 81 with some of the releases having a Christmas cover on them.
Anyone know anything about this Moonboots Winter mix? Think that could be exactly what I’m taking about.
Think I’ve got this on a white vinyl 7” somewhere but here it is on Bandcamp
Not festive but winter themed ambient vibes.
Not been able to find anything online about the Winter mix, but the Erland Cooper album is beautiful:
I need to check it out properly
It is a little plug, if that’s ok, but I really recommend Matty Skylab’s ‘Bells and That’ mixtape, on loop on loose.fm today (Christmas Eve) and tomorrow. It’s all music that features bells or is electronically ‘bell-like’, without a Christmas song in sight.
Starts on every even hour or thereabouts (it’s 2hrs+15secs), so 10am, 12pm, 2pm etc
Merry Christmas!
