Favourite Compilation Series

That Harvey MOS one has never been far away from my turntable since the day I bought it. Pure deep house vibes.

Essential collection of astounding music across 6 volumes. The artist roster on these is untouchable.

Recently the La Torre series has been great. Mix of new and old . Up to 4 volumes now which is impressive.

There was loads of Tommy Boy stuff around but this from '85 is a cracker. Still got my copy which I wish I’d treated a bit better to be honest. A stellar cast of production credits, Jellybean, Francois K, Arthur Baker, Shep Pettibone, etc. That cover is so ace too :sunglasses:

Volume 4 got rinsed on holiday in '93. Mundo Muzique- Andromeda is class, Afrotrance too, etc etc.

Always been a big comp fan, particularly in the lengthy period when I wasn’t really buying vinyl. A few favourites:

  • MoS Late Night Sessions were all ace - I think I have all three on both vinyl and cd. Wish they’d done more.
-DJ Kicks - have loads but particularly like Moodyman, Kamaal Williams, MCDE and Daddy G
  • Another Late Night - early ones all good
  • Loft 1 and 2 on Nuphonic
  • Idjut Boys’ Saturday Night Live on Nuphonic then Glasgow Underground
  • Not strictly a series but Royalties Overdue, Headz 1 an 2 on Mo Wax were big favourites too.
  • Fabric / Fabric Live - James Murphy/Pat Mahoney, Metro Area, Danilo Plessow

There was a few from the mid 90’s that I rinsed

That’s a great track!

Yes! Was gonna mentioned these- got 3 out of the 4. Really like how they feel like a dj set when playing start to finish

Recent one from Phil Mison. So good.

Loved the All Back To Mine TV series that accompanied this. Especially the one where Gil Scott Heron went back to Sean’s flat.
Big crack through one of the records in my copy. Was DJing at a party, played the Love Unlimited Orchestra track from this, went to put it back in its sleeve… and missed. Landing edge first on a hard wood floor rendered it unplayable.

Sorry if it’s been covered already.

This thread has exploded and there’s too much to go through….

but the recent Jura Soundsystem Transmissions 1-3 are totally brilliant.

Jura 3 arrived in the post yesterday as well as the new running back mastermix mix comp which has some decent bits on it.
