Ive been mainlining Stars of the Lid recently. I used to listen to them and a lot of Kranky stuff but i always return to this album. I think its my favorite out of their discography. Difficult to say.

I thought the ‘comeback’ album (Syro) he made was really undervalued in some quarters.
Not that he’d really gone away… (Analord series for example)
Perhaps because it didn’t sound like it was recorded to a c90 with six tons of quadraverb on the drums, like earlier stuff…I thought he really updated his sound sonically for the 21st century- but it was still recognisably him.
Programming/ production on it is staggering

Never really connected With Siro. Too schizophrenic/jittery broken beats for me.
Diminishing returns from 26 mixes for Cash onwards IMO (Analord series a small blip admittedly).

Analord was great and Siro was what reconnected me. Certainly his most “pop” album and I found it pretty readily accessible unlike a lot of his output.
SoundCloud dumps had their moments but there was just so much of it that I really haven’t got to grips with it all and can never remember the names of the good ones.
