Evocative music

One of the great things about music is how it can instantly remind you of & take you right back to a specific time, place or person/s in your life as soon as you hear a certain song or track, either happy or sad or both maybe.
I had the track below going through my head earlier & as always it took me back to my film loving 80s childhood, watching The Film Show with Barry Norman (it was the theme tune as i’m sure lots of you know) but not just that, it reminds me of that whole period, of where i lived, my family, friends, school & just general carefree childhood memories.
What music is evocative for you?

For me it’s kids cartoon theme tunes… So peak thundercats, battle of the planets,Ulysses, dungeons and dragons, inspector gadget etc… Mainly because they were all unique, singable, memorable and transports me back to hazy summer days as a kid going out on bmxs all day long, eating ice pops and getting up to no good lol .

Yeah same, we must be a similar age.
This will always be the sound of the 6 week summer school holidays to me because it used to be on TV then in the mornings.

Summer 1996, floating in a small row boat with a couple of friends in a small bay off the south-west coast of Skye. Perfect blue sky, not a cloud in sight, Cuillin hills in the distance. Crystal clear water with jellyfish floating under our boat, this playing on a boombox. Each time I hear this it takes me right back there.

A fairly recent one.

Me and my then girlfriend and 4 friends did a road trip from Istanbul, down the west coast to Datça. After a perfect day of swimming in the sea, we headed up to Knidos Feneri with wine, weed and bluetooth speakers to watch the sun set over the Mediterranean & Aegean Seas.

And this track will forever be intertwined with that evening.
