clubbier but quite esoteric stuff from Voorn.

This is the more clasically AI track on that cut

and seen as we’re on a Voorn kick, mad underrated.

Dubby AI dutch chugger

Yeah Weatherall rinsed this at sabresonic…

don’t think this has been posted? stumbling dub electro masterpiece

this is my favourite from him. really pushing the gear to its limits, that transition point between latter so-called ‘IDM’ and early AI. just on the cusp, before the granular synth revolution.

I would like to ask who on earth is making futuristic music like this today, but noone was really making music like this back then as well. akin to being a fish in an infinitely expanding aquarium on mars circa 2600.

no but the best AI record ever is this:

One of those records you can’t really mix about with, has to be listened to in its entirety. the closest techno gets to the rhythm-as-melody aspect of a lot of non western musics. The fact he (Bedouin Ascent) did this with machines in 92-93 is pretty intriguing considering that a lot of electronic music today feels rigidly sequenced to the grid, which in theory should really open up possibilities to have multiple interlocking rhythms, but rarely if ever does.

Lovely, didn’t know that one. Did we have this yet?

Been a few nice bits reissued by Acido records I think are this kind of esoteric / AI vibe if I’m understanding the concept.

Really enjoyed this album - obviously very Carl Craig influenced - and an old Brendon Moeller ep amongst others. Has that pensive late night quality but also an immediacy or drier sound alot of modern productions don’t have.

Great record.

Juan showing everyone how it’s done.

Loved pretty much everything Balil put out. Was always secretly hoping there’d be a Black Dog / Plaid / Balil retrospective with unreleased tracks at some point.
