In the US and, I’m fairly confident most militarized nations, the intelligence apparatus has much more influence on what we see and hear than we know. From hollywood’s use of aircraft carriers and fighter planes to outright editorial control of major news outlets.

well even at ground/local levels, most news outlets are nothing more than stenographers for the police.
the passive voice (“local man dies from gunshot after police confrontation”) always rules in favor of the establishment’s interest.
if it’s so pervasive at a micro level, it’s absolutely equally pervasive at a macro level.
