I’m amazed to see eBay have scrapped all sellers fees for private sellers, including final valuation fees. A pretty big move. Not good news for discogs …
Vinted have been wiping the floor with them for a while
I might think about listing records on ebay now as well as Discogs, the listing process is going to be slow compared to discogs in just a couple of clicks.
Comes a bit late as I’ve sold a few thousand quids worth of non record stuff on ebay the last couple of months. Absolutely baffled how they can revert to loosing that amount of inome in final value fees?
Just sold a 1210 on eBay a couple of weeks ago, £90 in fees!
If it makes it more palatable, I paid over £200 in fees on a pair of vintage Levis I sold to Japan, because I opted for higher visibility. In fairness, it’s probably what got them sold, bit it still hurt!
Be keen to see if Etsy (in some way) follow suit.
I feel your pain!
The fees have been too high over the last couple of years, and screwing over sellers for postage too made it even worse. I’m amazed they’ve completely abolished them though.
I got rinsed on some CDJs I sold on there a while back and resolved to never sell on there again. May now reconsider. Vinted is great but some items are restricted
How are they making money now, just from transaction fees?
Answering my own question, from interest on the funds they are holding
Ah…I guess they are holding a lot of funds at any one time
