I am finding these pictures of other peoples dogs extremely comforting.

been a couple of years since we had a full-time doggo, but when we did, we had weimeraners. and i’ve been told we won’t be doing that again.

purebreds are much likelier to get all kinds of sickness - my first one (reo) expired after developing a cancerous tumor in his stomach (he was a very good dog) and my second (jack) lasted a nice long time but cheated death repeatedly and at some points was costing upwards of $300 a month in medication alone. he was fun and sweet, but he was also a bit of a punk. he ate EVERYTHING.

now we just foster dogs, and it’s fun! we’ll probably stick with one sooner or later. as for now, it’s fun to “try before you buy” and to meet and take care of all kinds of good dogs. here’s ramey, and she was a personal favorite despite not liking other dogs and being just sicko strong.

yes, she really did look like the dog on the pixies artwork, hence the silly pun

Nice dogs.
I would never get a dog now without health insurance. Black lab cost us a lot with various issues over the years. Next dog we got insurance straight away and pithing a few months he was diagnosed with a rare form of diabetes. Without the insurance, the money for the meds was eye watering to say the least.

Cash - charcoal lab. 16 months old. We got him before lockdown - February 2020.

Typical lab - loves his food and anyone else’s too much…

Great for walks, loves people. My 1st dog, and great with our kids.

Absolutely. And constantly hunting for food…

Terrified of skateboards. Beats me!

This is Alma, she’s not mine but we look after her sometimes. She’s mostly Jack Russell but also part something else I can never remember. Super stubborn but the nicest dog too. Hasn’t eaten anything strange yet on my watch.

This is Moley. Italian greyhound. He’s big for an Iggy - most people thing he’s a whippet pup but he’s 16 months old. We got him in September and he’s been a god send for the missus who continues to work from home while me and the kids are back at work/school. He can be a bit anxious when other dogs run at him (bolted once) but he’s come on loads since we got him. Perfect family dog but loves to eat cat shit unfortunately. Treated like absolute royalty and he bloody knows it. Happy to sun bathe all day.

He’s a beauty. My sister has one and a rednose pitbull she got from some rescue place that was brought in from Holland and the owner couldn’t keep as a pup. They get on great.

Love Rameys smile

Dog fostering is a good shout. Here in the uk you can also give a home to guide dogs whilst they do their training.

This is Herbie - an “English” Staffordshire Bull Terrier - he became my 50th Birthday gift in February by default as it was just good timing that the 8 week period fell on the weekend of my BD. He is now 15 weeks old and such a character. Super loving and social, he’s confident with big dogs, loves riding in the car and is super affectionate and loves cuddling.

Having a dog has really bonded the four of us in my family - the kids actually emerge from their rooms at night to sit with us and spend time laughing at him and giving him hugs in the lounge. My wife was never allowed to have pets, so this is her first and she was a bit nervous at first, but said to me yesterday “it’s like having a baby every single day who just loves you so much” and it’s true.

My daughter who is 11 had a severe fear of dogs right up until the day we got him. It was a risk bringing him into the home with somebody who wouldn’t go down a street if there was even a tiny dog present, but I trusted my instincts and now she won’t leave him alone - kisses and hugs and trains him constantly. She can also pick up and enjoy the company of other dogs which was totally unheard of just a few months ago.

Wow, Herbie. What a handsome boy. It’s great how dogs can draw the family together.
