That’s so sad mate I’m really sorry to hear this. I lost mine just before Christmas it is heartbreaking. My thoughts are with you at this moment. They really are part of the family.

The intelligence of other beings never fails to amaze me - I have an obsession with Octopuses in particular. Yet we try to test their intelligence with nonsense like if they can recognise themselves in a mirror and the like.
My wee dog is more emotionally intelligent than most humans I know.

Humans always test the intelligence of other species using human metrics. To me that’s nonsense. I bet we wouldn’t rate well on an ant’s intelligence test, and objectively we’re proving to be a pretty idiotic species.
Dogs seem to have it worked out.
