DJ Parrot Appreciation Thread

Picking up on the new Lady Blackbird mixes and the reissue coming on Viscous charm a thread in honour of all things Parrot. I mean he really does turn out music that exists all in its own world… For starters…

This one is one of my favourite records. Just pure warped Sheffield soul music that can do no wrong for me…

I know people discovered the cover on this one recently but this ethno house number got played a lot in my house first time around…

Sweet Exorcist (Parott and Kirk) took the bleep sound and turned it inside out as they went… Mid tempo wonky bleep chug here…

Amy Douglas - Never Saw it coming - Track of the decade
I was v lucky to have lived in Sheffield 89 - 92 so heard him DJ a lot with Winston
The house would build up to full on techno & about 1230 he’d play a 30 min soul set every week

Regina Bell often the 1st of the set

Also lucky to hear him and Winston DJ a few times 1989, 1990, 1991, always brilliant. Sweet Exorcist changed so much.

It makes Dextrous sound quite conventional which isnt that easy!

This is a topic close to my heart. With no copies for sale anywhere in the UK, I recently approached all the discogs holders of the copy of this track in their inventory and begged them to part with it. Most were kind when they said no, others tried to gouge me with ridiculously high prices, and eventually somebody was happy to sell. I’m not without shame, but when you get that itch… It’s just a perfect track for me and classic Parrot, builds and builds into ecstacy. I wasn’t there, but I believe it was recently rinsed by Logan at tryouts and Severino at Love international.

The b-side is pretty decent as well if memory serves me right.
