Apparently they’re not aimed at kids at all, no way

I would see them everywhere usually near schools, you can buy them here from 16yrs at the moment

I can vouch for this shop, Marten is a mensch and has tons of goodies!

Off the Copenhagen in mid March as my gf has a film being premiered at CPH:DOX 25. Looking to got 19th - 26th March.

No longer buy vinyl, so not too fussed about record shops, but food recommendations, clothes & culture mainly.

Cheers :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey Disco - Born and bred in Copenhagen. Still here with no plans to move so far

For food: depends on what you prefer. NĂžrrebro is the key to the most exiting restaurants. I like wine so i like to go to Terroiristen, Gaarden og Gaden, Calma and especially Silberbauers bistro in NĂžrrebro. I live in the Vesterbro neighborhood which has an abundance of good places as well. Jah Izakaya, Osteria 16 and Resto Bar to name a few.

Clothes: Norse Projects. Great danish brand with a lot of good imported goods as well. Kyoto in Vesterbro is great as well.

Culture: CPH:DOX25 i guess. Always good selection but thats a given. Copenhagen Contemporary is an amazing art hall. The articifial island is located at is a visit worth as well. Nikolaj Kunsthal is often overlooked but has amazing exhibitions. Charlottenborg Kunsthal as well. Also, it sounds like a tourist trap but taking the public ferry around the inner harbour is the most sublime way to see the city. Avoid Nyhavn but dont avoid KĂžbmagergade and some of the other most touristy areas. Theres a lot of history you would miss. Especially the architecture. Frederiksberg Have to see a nice, old royal park. Stroll around Gl. Kongevej, see people desperately looking for sunshine after a long, dark winter.

Enjoy! feel free to write for more tips.

Excellent, thank you. We will be checking a lot of what’s on at CPH:DOX25.
Norse Projects will also be a must of course. I have inherited a love of SĂžren Kierkegaard from my Dad, so would like to one of the walking tours.

Any tips on good places to stay would be gratefully appreciated. Prefer quirky/character over expensive luxury.

My gf film is having it’s premier on the 20th, so looking at going from the 19th to 24th/25th.

Thanks again for the great info :ok_hand:

Thanks for all the good recommendations! Just landed back in sunny Edinburgh after a lovely, though too short, trip.

Such a beautiful city. Lots of good documentaries watched in various cinemas/venues throughout the city, some great food and drinks and a few touristy things, including a flying visit with lunch In Malmö.

Very well. And a Q&A afterwards with the Director. A very enjoyable evening all round.

Also caught a good exhibition at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art on Ocean that had a wee mention of Drexciya.

“Copenhagen, good for the soul, bad for the wallet”
A lovely Swedish chaps said to me, it was indeed true.

I had 5 days in Copenhagen in April, what an incredible trip.
I’ve totally fallen for the city and can’t wait to go back (hopefully as soon as September).

The record shops I checked out were amazing, though I was right on my Ryanair weight limit and too scared to buy anything that might tip me over! I’d been travelling around Germany for 9 days beforehand, so my case was already crammed with clothes. That turned out to be a bit of a blessing in disguise, I only spent half a day digging through records, which meant I had more time to actually explore the city instead of just flipping through crates.

If anyone wants a list of the record shops, just drop me a message. A local sent me his favourites, and they were spot on.
I will shout out one place, though, it’s not technically a record shop, but an interiors store that sells vinyl Mother Interiors . Amazing selection, and Christian d’Or, who runs it, is an absolute gem, super friendly, deeply knowledgeable about the kind of music this forum loves, and a great DJ too. I caught one of his bar sets and it was genuinely an education.

Copenhagen is totally walkable, though I definitely overdid it a bit. I probably could’ve squeezed in more if I’d used the public transport more (which is excellent), but I discovered so much just wandering that I’d still do a lot on foot next time.

Quick-fire round of stuff I loved:

  • The Cisterns in SĂžndermarken – underground gallery space, very cool.
  • Bird cocktail bar and their second venue (I think it’s called Bird Coffee) – both super Testpressing-friendly vibes, heard some excellent DJs in both.
  • The Little Mermaid – yes, I know it’s a full tourist clichĂ©, but I loved it. Beautiful spring day, walked from Vesterbrogade to the statue (took a bit over an hour), then on to the much lesser-spotted Genetically Modified Mermaid—not a tourist in sight, and worth the extra distance (even if my feet weren’t thanking me).
  • MĂŠrsk Tower – free viewing platform with a great perspective on part of the city. Totally worth checking out.

For coffee and treats, my go-tos were Hart Bageri, Orsa Coffee, and Beat CafĂ© (which has a great secondhand record shop in the basement). They were all in or near Vesterbrogade, where I was staying—and honestly, I could’ve just chilled in that neighbourhood the whole time.

Since getting back, I can’t stop thinking about the place—it really was magical.

I also did a day trip to Malmö, which I really enjoyed. Mainly went to see the Turning Torso (I’m obsessed with that building) and visited the viewing area for the Øresund Bridge. One day in Malmö is probably enough, but I’ll go back—partly because I found a place that did absolutely incredible meatballs.

Malmö also has an incredible sauna. That’s worth a visit. Super old school.
