Ah, that’s fantastic.
Just picked up a copy too. Sounds like a fascinating read.
I just bought it as well.
In for a penny, in for a pound! Really looking forward to reading it! ![]()
Thanks, I’ve told them about all this, and again, he’s delighted. It became a kind of cult success - ie, not very much money (some of the royalties go towards Cowdenbeath youth set up. They have the kind of football that the police are there to stop people getting out.
I will try and get a photo of the old dude i his Folk assembly pants and one my TP sweatshirts/t-shirts. ![]()
Thank you. The play getting the green light finally, and some lovely human beings on a great internet space buying his book, is giving him real joy. Honestly! Although not his biggest seller by far (although it has sold constantly since published and had a good boost for the second addition - one of the introductions is by Alex Ferguson, which helps), it is certainly his most loved and personal one.
And thank you too Del. If you like the history of towns that boomed and then bust, and the fortunes of their infamously bad team, you’ll love it. I always get sudden memories of how cold it was - started with your feet and went upwards. And he always in standing in the open terracing where he did as kid. I hated bovril, but it was warm. And you get some of the funniest shit shouted by certain fans, that everyone in the stans and pitch can hear.
It’ll bring back memories for sure Ally! I’ve frozen my erse off and drunk bovril and greasy pies many times!
Have a cracking weekend! ![]()
I did enjoy telling my work colleague from Scotland that I’m reading a book about Cowdenbeath.
That was part of the fun at the foorball in those daysAgain, thanks to all of you. This stuff happening with the play has given him purpose again. So thanks for buying, and all the others.
Yeah, it’s a weird one. It’s one of strange named places that everyone remembers from the football results being announced, 1970 - 1990

Best t shirt design ever!
Speaking of T-Shirts, I now have a dedicated online store that manufactures and ships globally (thus avoiding the eye watering postage costs from Australia).
Take a peek, I’ve just started populating it and have over 500(!) designs to add, covering film, classic iconography, and loads of music that will speak to many TP Forum readers.
‘They’re selling hippy wigs in Woolworths man…’
ok, i gotta know - where did a sydney guy possibly find the flyer for this one?
there’s a very good chance i was at that show. i spent a lot of hours in that building.
Chances are it came from an old copy of Source mag or similar. I sometimes trawl through Flickr because a lot of people scan entire copies of music mags. It’s a great resource to find ads for gigs and album releases with unique artwork etc.
There is a Woolworths Christmas add on Youtube with family doinmg all shopping
