This short, bittersweet composition by William Grant Still was broadcast on Radio Three’s always interesting Breakfast show today.
Thought it might form part of a nice late-evening soundtrack.

Gonna fire some Opera in here… the whole thing is great but this piece from Britten’s ‘Billy Budd’ is just outstanding, one of my favourite pieces of music ever! Never fails to give me shivers in the build up and gets me proper glassy-eyed when it “drops” at around 3mins - incredibly powerful piece and pretty rare for an Opera to have a fairly long instrumental section in the middle. Ugh, so so good!

A couple of pieces here that are quite beautiful IMHO. Just listened to BBC R3 and they played Howard Skempton’s gorgeous “Lento”. Always think it’s worth 12 mins of anyone’s time:

Bit obvious but I’m loving this on a ‘now thats what I call classical chill album’ CD thing…
Bollocks to the class thing, I’d play this out to the public, go home and do some welding or other such working class activity…
