I’m learning to play this piece. There is something about baroque solo instrument performance that can put you in a wonderful state of meditation - the performance below is lovely.

This short, bittersweet composition by William Grant Still was broadcast on Radio Three’s always interesting Breakfast show today.
Thought it might form part of a nice late-evening soundtrack.

Gonna fire some Opera in here… the whole thing is great but this piece from Britten’s ‘Billy Budd’ is just outstanding, one of my favourite pieces of music ever! Never fails to give me shivers in the build up and gets me proper glassy-eyed when it “drops” at around 3mins - incredibly powerful piece and pretty rare for an Opera to have a fairly long instrumental section in the middle. Ugh, so so good!
