heading back to where i lived 95-98 for the weekend in November… any bar restaurant recommendations? Particulalry where we may hear balearic/disco type stuff?
Paradise garden for decent tunes and drinks. Soundsystem is pretty good.
Food is a bit chainy but restuarants I’ve been to that have been pretty good:
Asador
Heaneys
Bar 44
Curudo bar
Theres a ramen place in grangetown which is great but forgotten the name.
Lots of good street food option in cardiff market and you’ve got Kelly’s records in there.
Also diggers club records. Its an appointment only type record shop but good selection.
My wifes from cardiff so I spend quite a bit of time there.

Studied there 94-96. Used to love the club that was featured in human traffic. Think it was called hippo club? the one near to the bit under a bridge if I remember rightly

I was living there when they filmed Human Traffic… a couple of friends are in it… The club scenes were Club X, the club office was in The Emporium. The Hippo was ace though, proper rough and ready techno club… rumour was always it was a money laundering front for local gangsters…

That’s it. I remember reading that they just used the entrance outside of Hippo and the interior was filmed elsewhere. Didn’t they film the pub scene in gassy jacks the place in Cathays?

yep… filmed from exactly where i used to sit to watch the football.
