Brit Funk - A Very British Genre

Someone posted some Cloud upthread but this one’s also great… give it up for the funky sound of Swindon:

Cloud - Visions - 12" Moon Glow Mix

Backatcha put it out earlier this year - don’t know the backstory but I think it’s previously unreleased?

Can’t believe I forgot to post this.

And this, which might not strictly be brit funk but was a british band doing funk anyways:

He seems like a lovely guy too. His 70s Brazilian Special on NTS is worth checking.

He’s an absolute legend imo, proper UK music pioneer.

I got this from Sean P’s Originals comp - got so many cracking tunes from those comps!

And stumbled on a Portuguese pressing of this here in Portugal and took a chance on it. Smooth dynamite.

Two strong versions on Bandcamp of this 1985 tune from Take Three.

Sun’s out. I’m feeling the reggae version.

Edit: maybe this should be in the Street Soul thread?

This is Joe White so it’s really Jamaican, but it’s on a UK label and sounds more funky than reggae.
And I love it - works and works and works and works…
