There’s a lovely article over on the British Culture Archive about the importance of Scouse style in the 80s (and beyond) told through the lens of photographer Rob Bremner. I love the Marco Polo sweater tucked into the pleated slacks …
Great that. I grew up 15-20 miles away and as a teenager was always a little in awe of that Scouse style of the mid-late 80s. Farah kecks and Lacoste jumpers hit our school about six months after they became popular in Liverpool / took a while to filter through and the knock-offs in Ellesmere Port market didn’t have the same allure, funnily enough.
Was Le Shark big?
Oof. Girls in catsuits at parties were always my Kryptonite!
There were many shops in London that you had to buy from in a group, or risk immediate mugging when you left the shop. 4 Star general could be like that also, especially when they had Canada Goose jackets.
+1 on the Lambert/Highlander look striking a note in my proto-fashion mind back then… And also Ford/Deckard 1982/2019, Voight-Kampff test optional
Deckard’s coat rocked
Those red boots reminded me of this. Great tune, great clip, great outfits.
Early Brookside vibes

Anyone used to go here? Similar to 4 star general in that you had to go with your mates otherwise there was a good chance you’d get taxed. Big for chipie, chevignon and C17s
…or hunted by packs of mods
I bought my first pair of Red Wings there.
Swank just a few doors down too!
